MeraNews Network, Gandhinagar: IPS Rakesh Asthana, the top cop who’s currently embroiled in the internal tussle within the country’s premier investigation agency Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and has been accused of accepting bribes worth Rs 3 crores, is known to be a man of pomp and high tastes. He also seems to have a special affinity for self-praise.

The Modi-confidante never missed a chance to show his achievements and work to people, as we came across a short film got made on himself during his time as the Surat Police commissioner. The film attempts at an indirect comparison to some prominent leaders of the country like Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Subhash Chandra Bose, and Swami Vivekananda.

Ever since Asthana’s name has begun making rounds of the news cycle in newspapers and news channels, the YouTube link to this short-film made praising the Gujarat-cadre IPS officer’s achievements has been shared on multiple social media platforms.

Asthana, who held the post of special director in the CBI, has been currently sent on a forced leave ever since allegations of corruption and bribery have been made against him. The current director of CBI Alok Verma had vehemently opposed Asthana’s promotion to as the special director in CBI. Known to be in the good books of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP National President Amit Shah, Asthana was transferred to New Delhi on central posting ever since Modi became the PM.
