MeraNew Network, Gandhinagar: Taking forward PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, Beti Badhao’ campaign, Loksabha member from Kutch-Morbi, Vinod Chavda has been visiting different areas of his constituency during the Navratri festivities and worshipping young girls as goddesses and gifting the children with educational kits and Sukanya Yojna.
“I visit at least 18 places across Kutch-Morbi during Navratri where not only I worship Goddess Amba, but also 1,100 young girls. Even the locals have joined me for this. I mostly visit the rural regions where after worshipping the girls, we gift them with educational kits and make them a part of the Sukanya Yojna to promote PM Modi’s initiative to empower the girl child,” says Chavda. He added, “I visit at least 2 villages from the 12 talukas every evening during the nine nights of Navratri.”
The parents of the children are made aware of the benefits of the Sukanya Yojna, where a bank account for the child is opened and in the next 14 years, whatever sum is deposited into the account, the government will give three-times the sum as a return. The girl is also free to withdraw any sum she wants from the account after she turns 18 years old.
