MeraNews Network, New Delhi:  The upper house or the Rajya Sabha was washed out for the seventh consecutive day on Wednesday as the treasury benches and opposition fought over the Rafale deal, while Tamil Nadu parties protested on the Cauvery River issue.

Congress party members marched into the well of the house holding placards demanding a joint parliamentary committee probe (JPC) in the deal concerning the purchase of 36 Rafale fighter jets by the government. The members of AIADMK and DMK have been protesting in the house since day one on the Cauvery issue. The chairman of the house, vice president Venkaiah Naidu then proceeded to adjourn the house for the day, the seventh time in a row since December 11.

While the Congress continued sloganeering in the house, the treasury benches demanded that Congress president Rahul Gandhi apologize for his remarks after the Supreme Court had given the Rafale deal a clean chit. On Tuesday, the government and opposition had clashed over the same issue and the 1983 anti-Sikh riots too

Similar scenes were witnessed in the Lok Sabha too, where the opposition raised uproar after the centre rejected their demand for a JPC probe into the Rafale deal. Ever since the Parliament got together for the winter session, the Rafale jet deal has been a hot topic that resulted in the government and opposition parties locking horns in the house, leading to adjournments.
