Gandhinagar: In Gujarat, rainfall intensity has increased in the last 48 hours over the southern part of the state with some districts in South and North regions as well as Saurashtra receiving heavy rain on Monday.

It has led to a flood-like situation in some regions. In south Gujarat number of trains has been delayed. Nine blocks in south Gujarat received rainfall between 127 and 177 mm.

Schools were asked to remain closed in Umargam due to waterlogged roads. Waterlogging situation in Valsad may even worsen to high tide in the sea.

Traffic on the National highway connecting Ahmedabad and Mumbai was moving slower. Traffic was impacted due to the closure of railway crossing at Udvada following waterlogging.

Jayanta Sarkar, regional director of IMD, said the offshore trough and upper air cyclonic circulation has resulted in heavy rainfall in South Gujarat region and this condition will move towards east-central Gujarat and North Gujarat.
