Meranews, Rajkot: While the Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani announced Karuna Animal Ambulance -1962 in the state, employees of GVK-108 in Rajkot city and district have called for a strike on various issues they are facing for long time.

The Gujarat government has announced to begin ambulance service for animals, on the other hand the 108 service’s, which government is selling as their successful initiative in the state, employees went on strike from Saturday night for their long pending 12 demands like similar work- similar pay, eight hour shifts and job security.
 
More than 38 ambulances’ EMTs and pilots (drivers) of Rajkot district have joined the strike since Saturday night.
The long pending 108 employees’ demand followed by the strike, for their survival and existence, has again raised the question on Gujarat government’s development plank. This has also given air to the flames of 'Vikas Gando thaio che' (development has gone crazy) meme. 
 
It is noteworthy that a few months ago 108 employees had gone on strike. At that time the state government intervened and assured to solve their problems. But the government has not done anything for their demands and welfare, till date.

According to sources, The 108 employees in Rajkot joined the ongoing strike by 108 services’ employees in Mehsana. Nine 108 ambulance’s employees in Rajkot City parked the ambulance in Rajkot civil hospital and protested with slogans against GVK and Gujarat government. The employees claim to continue the strike until their demands are accepted; else they are ready to go on hunger strikes in the days to come.
