MeraNews Network, Gandhinagar: Firebrand Patidar community leader and convener of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) Hardik Patel, who was sentenced to two years of imprisonment and Rs 50,000 penalty along with two of his aides in the 2015 Visnagar rioting case has said that he doesn’t fear going back to the prison and that he carries his coffin around with him, intending to say that he is not even feared of death in his agitation.

In a series of tweets after the court pronounced its decision and later granted him bail, Hardik said that he’d have sat at home had this been just his case, but this is a matter concerned with crores of poor people.

Comparing the BJP government to that of Hitler’s rule, Hardik said that this government is trying to muzzle his voice by sending him to jail. His tweets saw a mixed response from people on the microblogging platform, where some criticised his stance against the government and that his demands were wrong, while many came out in support of him.

Wednesday’s court verdict was pertaining to an incident in Visnagar taluka of Mehsana district when the Patidar reservation agitation led by Hardik was at its peak in Gujarat. Hardik and his men were accused of arson and vandalism, where he had ransacked the office of a local BJP MLA.
