Vadodara: The Enforcement Directorate has attached properties worth Rs1122 crores of city-based businessman Amit Bhatnagar, who has been accused of defrauding a consortium of 11 banks to the tune Rs2654 crores along with his brother Sumit Bhatnagar and father Suresh Bhatnagar and their firm Diamond Power Infrastructure Limited. The ED is said to have attached all his properties in Vadodara and three windmills of his ownership in Bhuj.

The Bhatnagar own properties worth crores of rupees in the city through their several business ventures like Northway Spaces Limited (previously Mayfair Spaces Limited) and Diamond Power Transformers Limited. The properties attached by the ED include Bhatnagar' office in Gorwa BIDC, machinery owned by the company, a palatial bungalow at Sevasa, three windmills in Bhuj, and under construction hotel near Atladara in the city.

This ED order comes after the Bhatnagar trio of father and sons were arrested from a hotel in Udaipur, Rajasthan few days after the being on the run for a long time. The CBI had first begun its raids on Bhatnagar' businesses in March, which was followed by similar raids by the ED and then the Income Tax department. A high-flying businessman, Amit Bhatnagar is known to have close contacts with some of the most high-profile politicians and government officials in Gujarat and across the country.
