Anil Pushpangadan, Gandhinagar: The Gandhinagar Police on Thursday evening arrested a police sub-inspector with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) with 10 bottles of army-canteen liquor near Sector 13. He was allegedly trying to sell these bottles illegally.
Air Force, Coast Guard, and other defense personnel and officials living in Gandhinagar are allotted to receive liquor bottles at a subsidized rate every month from the army canteen. But these personnel and officials sell these liquor bottles illegally at three times the price, thus earning a fat profit.
Shantilal Patel, a PSI with the CISF with posting at the Ahmedabad International Airport was arrested with 10 bottles of canteen-bought liquor in his possession. Patel, a native of Kothiyawada, Sabarkantha, is a resident of Kameshwar Park in New Naroda, Ahmedabad. He had come to Sector 13 to sell off these bottles illegally to people. The cops also seized a motorcycle with a Chattisgarh registration number from him.
The arrested CISF PSI is supposed to get only 4 bottles of liquor from the canteen, but because he had more bottles in his possession, the cops have registered a complaint against him and investigation has been started. Top officials of the CISF to have been informed about this arrest.
