Gandhinagar: Four of the seven absconding policemen of Amreli Police, who have been accused of being party to the kidnapping and extortion of Surat-based realtor Shailesh Bhatt, have surrendered themselves to CID Crime, who has arrested them. Bhatt was kidnapped by Amreli police inspector Anant Patel and his constables from Gandhinagar and was extorted of Bitcoins worth Rs 14 crores.

Bhatt was illegally detained at Keshav farm off Chiloda highway and was threatened of being framed into fake cases unless he pays them in Bitcoins, which were worth Rs 14 crores at that point. So far, the CID Crime has arrested PI Anant Patel, Amreli Police SP Jagdish Patel and two other constables for their involvement in this crime, while the seven other constables were on the run.

Sanjay Padmani, Mohammed, Mayur Mangroliya and Pratap Der surrendered before CID Crime on Monday. Former MLA from Dhari, Nalin Kotadia, who is believed to be one of the main conspirators in this crime, has been declared fugitive by the court. Meanwhile, Bhatt, who is accused of extortion and fraud in another case on similar lines, has also gone underground to escape arrest by the CID.

The CID has demanded a list of assets owned by MLA Kotadia and his relatives, from the collectors of Amreli and Surat. They are also investigating the financial transactions done by him from the bank accounts under his name. One Dharmendrasinh Gohil, considered to be a close person to builder Bhatt, has been issued summons to appear before the investigators too.
