MeraNews Network, Gandhinagar: An International Conference on Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) will be held at Science City in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on January 17 as a part of the ninth Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. The seminar will focus on the importance of STEM for future economic development and building efficient manpower and will see addresses from speakers of international repute and paper presentations.
Speaking more about the conference, Education secretary Anju Sharma said that in the coming decade, 80 percent of jobs will be created in the science and mathematics sectors. The conference will brainstorm on the importance of STEM in building skillful manpower as per the requirements of the industries. A roundtable discussion will be chaired by HRD minister Prakash Javadekar at the conference.
She further informed that STEM will act as a bridge at this conference between industries that are facing a vacuum of skilled manpower and educational institutes that provide the required skill training. She said that India has an important place in the STEM sectors where the manufacturing in sectors of auto components, life sciences, Agro and Food Processing, Start Up and Innovation and engineering products are seeing growth.
Talking about Gujarat, Sharma said, “Gujarat has a noteworthy contribution in manufacturing and manpower segments. Gujarat contributes 19 percent of India’s total industrial manufacturing.”
The conference will also see a presentation of research papers. So far about 100 research papers from national and international universities. The best research papers will feature in the special edition of Review-Journal. The top three papers will win a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively.
