Hitesh Chavda, Gandhinagar: Tired of injustice being meted out and not being allowed to take legal steps against the corrupt and wrong, a Dalit-family from Sabarkantha, Gujarat have written to the Social Justice and Empowerment minister of the state to allow them to commit suicide and embrace death.

In a letter dated 14th March, a Dalit-family of Chandubhai Nadiya from Ahmedpur village of Sabarkantha district of Gujarat asked the minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Ishwar Parmar for permission to have his whole family commit suicide by hanging to death because of the mental stress they have to go through from the misuse of power by district collector P.Swaroop. They have accused the district collector of helping the land mafia in wresting away their land illegally and misusing his official powers to stop the family from filing an FIR against the wrongdoers. They have also alleged that the collector has been constantly avoiding them and not providing them with the proper copies of land papers they've been requesting him.

When MeraNews approached Minister Ishwar Parmar at his office in regards to this matter, he wasn't available but his personal secretary informed that a 'top-priority' letter has been written to Revenue Minister Kaushik Patel asking him to take the needful action on the issue raised by the applicant in his letter to the Social Justice Minister. The Family has also sent copies of their letter to the Governor of Gujarat, chief secretary of Gujarat government, additional chief secretary of Gujarat home ministry and the principal secretary to the chief minister of the state.
