MeraNews Network, Surat: Seems like wherever IPS officer Rajkumar Pandian goes, controversies follow him. Police superintendents and other junior cops working under Pandian, who is the current Surat Range IGP, are quite unhappy with his working style. The IGP office is accused of giving orders that cannot be fulfilled, and he is known to insult those who work under him. But recently, a circular given out by Pandian was rejected by the DGP Shivanand Jha.

In a circular by Pandian last month, he instructed his SPs and PIs under him not to accept applications or complaints regarding land disputes. The applications must be first sent to the IGP’s office and only after the IGP seems it to be genuine or worth pursuing, it would instruct further actions to the taken on it.

This was the IGP curtailing the authority of the police superintendents and inspectors. The reason given for this circular was that the official who investigates the land disputes usually earns money secretly from the parties involved and that this would put an end to it.

But Gujarat DGP Shivanand Jha rejected this circular and said that this decision taken by Pandian was not falling under any legal jurisdiction and that it should be withdrawn with immediate effect. He has also asked the IPS officer to give an explanation behind this circular.
