MeraNews Network, Surat: The Surat Police on Tuesday arrested one person in possession with a huge cache of explosive materials from Godadara in Limbayat area of the city. The seized materials, nine sticks of ammonium nitrate and detonators, could be used to make at least nine explosive devices or bombs.

The city police have increased their vigilance days before the Navratri festivities to thwart any untoward incidents from happening. Crime Branch’s Vijaysinh Bahadursinh had got a tip-off about a person allegedly bringing in explosive materials to Godadara. The cops set up a watch in the area and later nabbed a 24-year old youth identified as Sone Singh alias Sonu Juram Singh Thakur from an under-construction building near Devadhgam road.

The cops found nine ammonium nitrate sticks, nine detonators, transistor batteries, 2.25 kgs of ball bearings, 3 knives, 20 meter-long electric wire, a tester, and a motorcycle. The cops are currently questioning the youth to know his intentions and if there are more people involved in this.
